Scarves and underscarves
Wrap scarves that stay where you pin them
Chiffon for lightness, jersey for grip, and a modal blend that sits between the two. Underneath, a set of two stretch caps or tie-backs in four neutrals.
Chiffon
Our chiffon wrap scarf measures 180 × 70 cm, long enough to wrap twice and still leave a tail over the shoulder. The cloth is a soft, slightly sheer chiffon with a rolled edge stitched by machine, so the edge stays flat rather than curling. Because it is light, it moves and catches the air, and it needs an underscarf beneath it in a matching neutral so the hair does not show through.
Chiffon is slippery. It holds best with two pins: one under the chin and one at the side of the head where the second wrap crosses. A cap underneath gives the pins something to grip.
Jersey and modal
The jersey wrap scarf measures 170 × 65 cm and is knitted from a modal-blend jersey. Modal is a soft, smooth fibre that drapes heavily and does not cling, while the jersey knit gives it a gentle stretch. The result grips itself and grips the underscarf, so it often needs a single pin, or none at all if you tuck the tail in.
Jersey is also opaque, so it is the easier choice for anyone wearing a scarf for a long day without wanting to adjust it.

Underneath
Underscarves and tube caps
An underscarf does three jobs: it keeps the hair back, it gives pins something to hold, and it stops a sheer scarf showing what is beneath. We make two kinds, and both are sold in a set of two so one can be worn while the other is washed.
The tube cap is a seamless stretch tube that pulls on over the head and sits just above the hairline. It is the quickest to put on and suits jersey scarves well. The tie-back underscarf is a shaped band with two long ties that knot at the nape, so you can set how firm it feels; it suits chiffon better because it covers more of the back of the head.
When you order, choose tube caps, tie-backs or one of each, and the colour or colours you want. Both are one size and fit most adult heads.
How each scarf sits and pins
- Chiffon over a tie-back: wrap once around the face, pin under the chin, take the long end over the head and pin at the side. Let the tail fall over the shoulder.
- Jersey over a tube cap: drape with one side longer, bring the long side under the chin and over the opposite shoulder, then tuck. One pin at the side if you are moving a lot.
- Either scarf over an open abaya: leave the tail long at the front, where it covers the space between the two front edges.

Shades that work together
Chiffon scarves come in blush, dove grey, sage, mocha and black. Jersey scarves come in black, stone, mauve and navy. Underscarves come in the four neutrals that sit under all of them: ivory, stone, cocoa and black.
The colour sets are chosen so that every scarf has at least one neutral underscarf that matches it closely. Blush and dove grey sit best over ivory; sage and mocha over stone or cocoa; the darker shades over black.

Care
Wash chiffon by hand in cool water and dry flat; it is dry again within the hour. Jersey and underscarves can go in the machine at 30 degrees in a mesh bag. Never wring chiffon, and press it only on the lowest heat.
Underscarves are not returnable once the packet has been opened, for hygiene reasons; the returns page sets out the detail.
